All Set

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

I’ve got my ticket, and I’m ready for the Mayer show tomorrow night. Sunday will be one busy day… I’ve got a lot of driving around to do, but it all ends with the first Mayer show I’ve been to since 2004.

Can’t wait to see it, and tell you all about it.

WTF?

Friday, June 29th, 2007

I went to my nearest TicketMaster location yesterday, because I still hadn’t bought my ticket for the Mayer show I plan to attend on Sunday. When I got there, TicketMaster was down… So I couldn’t buy anything.

Since today is Friday already, They better be back in business, because there is no way I’m going to pay more for shipping to have it delivered overnight than for the ticket itself. My friends are smart, they bought tickets early, but it doesn’t matter too much, because we’re going to be on the lawn, so we can all still sit together.

Mayer puts on good shows in the Cleveland area… If you have the means, I highly suggest you attend.

Mayer Dream

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

I had an odd dream last night that I was on stage playing a bunch of Mayer songs… but it wasn’t like I was playing covers, it was like they were actually my songs.

I just thought I’d share that… maybe someone can interpret that. I think it just means that I’m excited for his show on Sunday.

City Love

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

So I’ve mentioned “Covered in Rain” recently, and I was wondering if you knew that it’s actually a continuation of the song “City Love”… Well it is.

“City Love” is a great song on it’s own, but live it’s even better, because John usually throws some wicked intro into it. My proof is this performance from the 2004 Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival.

It’s Official

Monday, June 25th, 2007

I’m going to meet some of the “JM Crew” on July first. I will update as things happen.

I’m excited to meet a couple of the members, because I was told again today “you’re the reason we all met, and you haven’t met us yet… This should be really awesome!

It Happened

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

John played “Covered in Rain” in the middle of the set during his June 23 Texas show.

Let’s hope He does that in a week when he visits Ohio, so I can see it.

Time Flies

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Today I thought of John Mayer’s career span. He’s been under a major label since 2001, and playing underground creating a buzz since 1998/1999… he’s almost 10 years older than he was when he first started getting noticed.

The reason I started thinking of this is because I saw the video on his YouTube account of him shaving, then saw the “Public Apology” video, and was able to really contrast and compare how he has changed…

It doesn’t seem like it’s been so long.

Something That Slipped Past Me.

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

Well, it seems that on August 16,2006 John Mayer signed up with YouTube and started posting videos… I never knew until today.

On John’s YouTube account you will find random videos, John’s music, and comedy shorts… That’s about it.

John and Jessica… Who Cares?

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

I believe that they broke up, so this may be out-dated information. Seriously, why was everyone making such a big deal about John and Jessica Simpson going out?… To me it doesn’t make a difference either way, and it shouldn’t… Not if it’s all about the music anyway.

This is one of the very few things about John Mayer’s career that I know next to nothing about.

Here is a video for you. It’s good either way, care or don’t care.

If you’re wondering, John says “Jessica is very beautiful, and you’ll be the last to know.”

I’m Excited

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

The Ohio Mayer show is closing in. I can hardly wait. I’ve noticed that “Good Love is on the Way” and “i don’t Need No Doctor” have made it into almost every set, which is awesome, because I’d love to see those songs live.

I’ve never seen “Covered in Rain” live though… I’ve always wanted to catch that one, but haven’t been lucky enough yet.

What song(s) do you wish he would play at the shows you attend

The Setlist Widgit Says…

Monday, June 18th, 2007

John played a show two days ago, where in the middle of the set he played a solo acoustic version of “Victoria”. This is a song that has only appeared on the “Inside Wants Out” record. The studio version is also acoustic, (I can’t imagine the song any other way) but it has over-dubs to fill in every space of the song with sound.

“Victoria” is a beautiful song, and I really can’t remember the last time I listened to it. If you haven’t heard it, you should go check out the 30 second iTunes preview if nothing else.

John Mayer, Mac User.

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

I bet a good number of you didn’t know that John Mayer uses Apple computers.

He and Apple go way back to the days of Oregon Trail, but this is the earliest proof I could find. It’s a video of John helping Steve Jobs demonstrate the absolute coolness of GarageBand at the 2002 MacWorld convention.

Covered in Rain

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

“Covered in Rain” is probably my favorite Mayer song, and I’ve been waiting for it to make it’s way into a studio album, but in a way I’m glad it hasn’t. In case you don’t know, “Covered in Rain” is the continuation song to “City Love”, which has only been released on “Any Given Thursday” and “As/Is” (As/Is was only available online).

The reason I’m glad it hasn’t been on a studio album is because John has a way of stealing my ideas… by that I mean that we think alike… and I like to do covers of songs that aren’t as well known by famous artists… this makes “Covered in Rain” a prime cut for me.

While we’re on the topic…

Friday, June 15th, 2007

On the topic of John Mayer v 1.0 that is. I have a nice video for you of “Why Georgia?”.

I picked this video because the lyrics are amazing to this song, and it’s quite old… If I were to guess, I would say 2001 or 2002. I say this because John is playing a big Martin guitar, and these days he plays small custom Martin acoustics. Also, Stephen Chopek is drumming. You may remember Chopek from 2002’s “Any Given Thursday” if you have the DVD version.

So without further adieu…

How I Got Started

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

Back in 2005 when John was working with Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan on his side project, John Mayer Trio (JM3), I started a MySpace account that brought together a large community of Mayer fans. Because I was allowing bootleg downloads, my account eventually got shut down, but the people still kept in contact… Even to this day.

They call themselves “The Crew“. The Crew consists of mostly 20-something women living in and around southern California, but they accept anyone who is a passionate fan of music, so even though the page is private you’ll be able to get in.

They attend shows, and have become good real life friends.
