Live Earth

by Tony Gregorc

Here is the video I talked about last time:

Pleasant Surprise

by Tony Gregorc

Did anyone else see Mayer playing “Message in a Bottle” with The Police last night on NBC?…

I didn’t even know that was gonna happen, I just happened to turn on the TV when I got home from work right before they started at like 10:50 pm EST. I DVRed most of it, but I don’t know how to get it from the cable box to the computer… Sorry.

I Don’t Trust Myself (Blossom)

by Tony Gregorc

One of his best songs in my opinion. What made this performance so special was the amazing intro he did for it. The guitar was so catchy that your head would just bob back and forth without even realizing it. Then he threw in a few lyrics from Peter Gabriel’s “Digging in the Dirt” (a great song by the way).

Many people videoed this performance, so you can see it on YouTube, but I’m not posting a video here, since you’re really not supposed to be taking video at his concerts anyway.

Why Georgia (Blossom)

by Tony Gregorc

The second song of the show in northern Ohio. There isn’t a whole bunch to say about this one, because he pretty much plays it the same way every time… one thing I can say is that I called it to my friend that it would be within the first three songs of the set list…

I guessed this because he opened with it last time he played that venue in 2004, and I also noticed that it was an early song choice for many of his other songs this tour… We didn’t bet money, so satisfaction for being right is all I got.

Belief (at Blossom)

by Tony Gregorc

Belief is a great song live. John started the show with this one. Playing a little bit on the guitar to start the song off, then going right into it.

The solo was good. A little improv on top of the basic structure you hear on “Continuum”. To say the least, it was a great way to start the show.

Now, I’m afraid to start this “one song a day post thing, because the set list wiki hasn’t been updated in over a week, and I can only remember the first three songs in order… then I get a bit lost… If things don’t work out, I’ll just use filler material about other stuff.

Boy, Do I Have Things to Say

by Tony Gregorc

I just got back from the Mayer show, and I gotta say… It was very, very awesome… and I would say that even if I wasn’t bias.

The way this will work it that I will write a post each day about a song from the set in order. Since I have a lot to say, this should work out very nicely.

Also, in about two weeks, I will be seeing The Police in concert, which is worth mentioning here, because they are such a huge influence in John’s music.

Today’s the Day

by Tony Gregorc

Today I will meet up with my friends and go see John Mayer do his thing at 7:00pm. It’s going to be really awesome, and probably just a little bit crazy too.

I’ll let you know all about the set list and certain highlights tomorrow or so.

All Set

by Tony Gregorc

I’ve got my ticket, and I’m ready for the Mayer show tomorrow night. Sunday will be one busy day… I’ve got a lot of driving around to do, but it all ends with the first Mayer show I’ve been to since 2004.

Can’t wait to see it, and tell you all about it.

Tony

WTF?

by Tony Gregorc

I went to my nearest TicketMaster location yesterday, because I still hadn’t bought my ticket for the Mayer show I plan to attend on Sunday. When I got there, TicketMaster was down… So I couldn’t buy anything.

Since today is Friday already, They better be back in business, because there is no way I’m going to pay more for shipping to have it delivered overnight than for the ticket itself. My friends are smart, they bought tickets early, but it doesn’t matter too much, because we’re going to be on the lawn, so we can all still sit together.

Mayer puts on good shows in the Cleveland area… If you have the means, I highly suggest you attend.

Mayer Dream

by Tony Gregorc

I had an odd dream last night that I was on stage playing a bunch of Mayer songs… but it wasn’t like I was playing covers, it was like they were actually my songs.

I just thought I’d share that… maybe someone can interpret that. I think it just means that I’m excited for his show on Sunday.

City Love

by Tony Gregorc

So I’ve mentioned “Covered in Rain” recently, and I was wondering if you knew that it’s actually a continuation of the song “City Love”… Well it is.

“City Love” is a great song on it’s own, but live it’s even better, because John usually throws some wicked intro into it. My proof is this performance from the 2004 Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival.

It’s Official

by Tony Gregorc

I’m going to meet some of the “JM Crew” on July first. I will update as things happen.

I’m excited to meet a couple of the members, because I was told again today “you’re the reason we all met, and you haven’t met us yet… This should be really awesome!

It Happened

by Tony Gregorc

John played “Covered in Rain” in the middle of the set during his June 23 Texas show.

Let’s hope He does that in a week when he visits Ohio, so I can see it.

Time Flies

by Tony Gregorc

Today I thought of John Mayer’s career span. He’s been under a major label since 2001, and playing underground creating a buzz since 1998/1999… he’s almost 10 years older than he was when he first started getting noticed.

The reason I started thinking of this is because I saw the video on his YouTube account of him shaving, then saw the “Public Apology” video, and was able to really contrast and compare how he has changed…

It doesn’t seem like it’s been so long.

Something That Slipped Past Me.

by Tony Gregorc

Well, it seems that on August 16,2006 John Mayer signed up with YouTube and started posting videos… I never knew until today.

On John’s YouTube account you will find random videos, John’s music, and comedy shorts… That’s about it.
